MARCO FERRI

Violin

Marco graduated with full marks, honours and an honourable mention from the Conservatory-equivalent "Orazio Vecchi" Institute of Musical Studies in Modena under P. Besutti and he holds the role of Concertino of the First Violins in the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. He attended the Masterclass held by Maestro Francesco De Angelis (1st solo violin of the Teatro alla Scala) for of the Associazione Napolinova, and won several national and international prizes, including Rassegna Vittorio Veneto (1992, 1995), Riviera della Versilia (1994), Lorenzo Perosi (1996), Pinerolo Città della Cavalleria (1995), Vittorio Gui (1997), G.B. Viotti (1998). A permanent violinist with Trio Estense since 1994, he trained with Trio di Trieste at the Duino National Chamber Music Academy, obtaining the Diploma of Merit at the Chigiana Academy in Siena and the Honours Diploma from the Pinerolo Music Academy. In 1998, he won the Jeunesse Musicale of Italy national auditions. He collaborated with the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by L. Maazel, and played with M. Rostropovich, G. Petre, J. Tate, E. Inbal, C. Dutoit, E. Schiff. He collaborates as concert master with the Orchestra dell'Opera Italiana and he recorded as first violin with the Respighi Ensemble for Tactus. He plays in the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, with which he toured Germany and Japan with Directors R. Muti, K. Masur, and M. Plasson. He also toured Austria, Germany, Finland and Japan with Virtuosi Italiani, Filarmonici di Bologna and Trio Estense, performing in the Hamburg Musikhalle, in Wolfsburg, Kiel, Cologne, at the Chopin Museum in Warsaw, in Krakow, Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja and Port Harcourt among others.
